Muay Thai, also known as Thai boxing, is the national sport and cultural martial art of Thailand. Known as the art of 8 limbs, Muay Thai is the combination of punches, kicks, knees and elbows. 

Different from the sport of kickboxing, in Muay Thai you will see various forms of clinching techniques, sweeps and dumps.

Learn solid technical skill while getting a good workout. We start fundamental footwork and combination drills, followed by partner technique drilling. Towards the end of class you have the opportunity to work on your on your craft with live technical sparring. 

Why Brazilian Muay Thai?

Other than Muay Thai being a sport, it’s one of the most effective martial arts for self defense. Muay Thai teaches you to use you punches, kicks, knees  and elbows. It’s also a fun activity to get your heart rate up and burn some calories.

Coach Joel has been training For over 10 years and has over 15 fights combined in MMA and Muay Thai. He is a 4x SteelFist bantamweight champion, and Arizona dual state Muay Thai champion. He goes the extra mile to learn from highly respected fighters and coaches such as Liam Harrison and Duane Ludwig.  As a fighter Joel breaks down the necessary details to be successful on either the offensive or defensive side of a fight.

1) When did you start training

I started training in 2010, a sophomore in high school.

2) Why Muay Thai?

Muay Thai is such a technical sport. Unlike boxing where you can only punch. Having 6 extra “tools” in your back pocket in my eyes seems pretty unpredictable and pretty awesome! Other than the cool techniques you can learn in Muay Thai, its a Killer workout.

3) How has it shaped/changed your life?

Muay Thai has become a huge part of my life. Not because I compete, but because it has really instilled confidence in my own life. It has also helped me in a self defense situation, you never know when you’ll need to use it and I’m happy in that moment t I was able to defend myself.
